Early this year, in an effort to address the nation-wide opioid epidemic, the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released the first round of funding for a two-year State Targeted Response (STR) grant. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMSHA) has allocated a grant for each state, aimed at reducing the number of individuals with Opioid Use Disorders (OUDs) and the number of opioid related deaths. HOPE is proud to contribute to the overarching goals of the STR and will provide peer-support services via outreach and navigation services. The HOPE STR Outreach Team will seek to identify high-risk populations, provide assistance to individuals for improved access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), and offer tools to support overall recovery success. The STR Outreach Team is working closely with providers of treatment, prevention and education services to meet the goals of the STR project and ultimately save lives.
